Software Intensive Systems
Modern products impress with their intelligent software. That applies to washing machines and hammer drills as well as navigation systems and engine management for cars. The devices contain tailor-made hardware with specially designed software programs: Bosch is a leading international producer of such embedded systems.
The use of computer simulations during product development and as a planning tool has proven very useful in many applications, such as production planning or component design. We are also exploring the use of simulation modeling in the planning of development processes, for instance in software engineering. This method enables us to evaluate process changes fast and economically in a model. Statistical methods can be used to quantitatively evaluate and compare different processes before they are ever used.
Economy using simulation
The effect of process changes is easy to estimate quickly and economically using models.
